Top 10 Best Selling SUV in May 2021  

All manufacturers have now started offering SUVs. In fact, some of the newer manufacturers like Jeep, Kia and MG Motor offer only SUVs and are doing well in the market. However, not everyone could afford an SUV because of the high prices. That’s where compact-SUVs came in and it’s one of the hottest parts on the Indian market with new launches or continuous upgrades. 

Today, we are writing down the 10 best-selling SUVs in India for 2021.

10. Tata Safari (1536 units)

TATA MOTORS, the indigenous manufacturer launched the seven-seater Safari earlier this year and is sold in six- and seven-seat options. Safari sold a total of 1,536 units in May 2021 but in April 2021, it posted 1,514 unit sales. It shows a minimal growth in terms of sales which is 22 units more compared to April 2021.

9. Mahindra Scorpio (1762 units)

The next SUV that again looks and feels a slightly outdated is the Mahindra Scorpio. It is also surprising to see this full size SUV in the top-selling SUVs. Mahindra Scorpio for a long time, doesn't get a facelift or next generation. Aside from the high prices and outdated interiors and engine, Scorpio managed to get 9th place on the list. Although Mahindra will launch next generation scorpio at end of year. Mahindra sold a total of1,762 Scorpios in May but in April it posted 3,577 unit sales.

8. Mahindra next gen Thar (1911 units)

Another SUV from an Indian carmaker is the Mahindra Thar. Mahindra introduced the Thar somewhere the end of 2020 and it was an instant hit. Despite the high demand and a little low production cost, Mahindra was managed to sell 1,911 Thar in May. It received 4 out of 5 star crash test rating from Global NCAP.

7. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza (2648 units)

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, 2017 Indian Car of the Year always in the top 3 in the list of best selling SUV. But In May, Brezza managed to sell just 2,648 units; 8,572 less than in April 2021. In April, Brezza sold a total of 11,220 units. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza also get 4 out of 5 star crash test rating from Global NCAP.

6. Mahindra Bolero (3517 units)

The Mahindra Bolero was the sixth best-selling SUV in the country last month.  It still remained one of the most successful utility vehicles in India for the past several years! Even during the Covid-19-induced turbulence, Mahindra still managed to move 3,517 units of the Bolero without much trouble. 

5. Kia seltos (4277 units)

The SUV that wrote the success story of the Korean automobile company Kia is the Seltos. Kia managed the 5th spot when it comes to the number of SUVs sold in April. Last month Kia sold 4,277 Seltos across India, which is 3,809 units less compared to April. Seltos received 3 out of 5 average crash test rating in Global NCAP.

4. Hyundai Venue (4840 units)

Hyundai Venue secures the 4th spot.  This subcompact SUV has given tough competition to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It managed to sale a total of 4,840 units.

3. Tata Nexon (6439 units)

Vehicle safety is the top priority of the Indian carmaker Tata. Tata with their Nexon secure 3rd spot. In May, Tata sold 6,439 Nexons across India which is 491 units less than in April(6,930 units). Tata Nexon is the first Indian Car which received 5 out of 5 crash test rating in Global NCAP. 

2. Kia Sonet (6627 units)

Next, coming to the other sub 4m suv from Kia is the Sonet. Kia Sonet is the 2nd best selling SUV in  the list of top-selling SUVs. In May Kia sold a total 6,627 SUV in across India which 1,091 less than in April(7,724 units).

1. Hyundai Creta (7527 units)

Hyundai launched the generation Creta last year. Hyundai Creta is the Best selling SUv in the top selling suv list. In May, Hyundai sold a total of 7,527 Creta across India.
