Top 10 Best Cars in India May 2021 - Hyundai Creta tops the list!

 Hyundai Creta makes history by becoming the best-selling car in India in May 2021! It is the first time that the Non-Maruti model has emerged as the best-selling retailer in the Indian market for a very long time. Things changed when the Maruti Suzuki plant was shut down for more than half a month and shipping had a major impact.

Only three of the Top 10 cars came from Maruti Suzuki's stable. Also, 3 Hyundai models have been successful on the list. Kia had 2 models and Mahindra / Tata had one in the Top 10.

1.Hyundai Creta

                        

Hyundai Creta has been the No.1 Selling SUV of India for a while. In May 2021, it emerged as India's best-selling passenger car for the first time in its life. It sold a total number of 7,527 units. Mid SUV has surpassed the popularity of Swift, Alto, and Baleno to achieve this feat. However It shows a negative growth of 39.6% in terms of Month of Month sales compared to April. In April Hyundai Creta sold a total of 12,463 units. 

2. Maruti Suzuki Swift

Maruti Suzuki Swift is second best selling car of India. 7,005 units of Swift sold in May. However It shows a negative growth of 61.8% in terms of Month of Month sales compared to April. In April Maruti Swift sold a total of 18,316 units. 

3. Kia Sonet

The Sonet emerged as Kia's best-selling car and India's third best-selling car in May 2021.It sold a total number of 6,627 units. Compact SUV sales fell only 14 percent in May 2021 in April 2021. In April Kia sonet sold a total of 7,724 units.

4.Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon is fourth on the list and was also the third largest SUV to sell the SUV in May 2021 (after Creta & Sonet). It sold a total number of 6,439 units. Nexon has consistently held Tata’s rolls and has always found Tiago as OEM’s best-selling car! However It shows a negative growth of 7.2% in terms of Month of Month sales compared to April. In April Tata Nexon sold a total of 6,938 units. 

5. Maruti Suzuki Dzire

The Maruti Dzire was the sole sedan in the Top 10 and was ranked fifth in May 2021. The model still holds its monetary value mark and gets buyers accordingly.

It sold a total number of 5,819 units. However It shows a negative growth of 58.7% in terms of Month of Month sales compared to April. In April Maruti Dzire sold a total of 14,073 units. 

6.Hyundai Venue

Hyundai Venue lagged at Sonet and Nexon slipped to sixth place. It looks like the product is geared towards building a high number of Crete by May 2021.It sold a total number of 4,840 units. However It shows a negative growth of 57% in terms of Month of Month sales compared to April. In April Hyundai Venue sold a total of 11,245 units. 

7. Maruti Suzuki Baleno

 Maruti Baleno slept in seventh place on the list. It sold a total number of 4,803 units. It shows a negative growth of 70.7% in terms of Month of Month sales compared to April. In April Maruti Suzuki Baleno sold a total of 16,384 units. 

8. Kia Seltos

It is the first time Kia has had 2 models in the Top 10 and 1 in the Top 5 cars selling the month. Seltos is ranked eighth with a shipment of 4,277 units in May 2021. However It shows a negative growth of 47.1% in terms of Month of Month sales compared to April. In April Kia Seltos sold a total of 8,086 units. 

9.Hyundai i 10 Nios

The Hyundai i 10 Nios was ranked 9th and 3,804 were shipped to retailers in May 2021. It was a hatch placed third in the Top 10 (behind Swift & Baleno). However It shows a negative growth of 67% in terms of Month of Month sales compared to April. In April Hyundai Creta sold a total of 11,540 units. 

10. Mahindra Bolero

Mahindra Bolero entered the Top 10 with a shipment of 3 517 units. It was also the best-selling model of Mahindra in May 2021. However It shows a negative growth of 42.8% in terms of Month of Month sales compared to April. In April Hyundai Creta sold a total of 6,152 units.
