Renault Triber received 4 stars on Global NCAP
Renault Triber received a four-star safety rating in the category of adult passenger protection at Global NCAP. The latest round of tests was conducted under the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign.
- Renault Triber scored 11.62 out of 17 points in a secure adult test
- It received a three-star rating in the category of citizen protection
- The Triber tested was a base trim with two front airbags
2021 Renault Triber GNCAP test scores
GNCAP gave Renault Triber a four-star rating in the adult protection category as MPV scored 11.62 points on 17 points. In terms of protection provided to the driver and passenger, the head and neck were good for both, tibia protection was measured adequately for both, while the chest was equally balanced and adequate, with the knees measured side by side and good, respectively.
The MPV bodyshell is rated as unstable as it can be considered resistant to other loads. However, the foot area on the other hand is limited as stable.
In the child protection category, the Triber did not win again, having earned a three-star rating of 27 out of 49 points. At this stage, the tests were performed on both the front-facing (FWF) child seat and the rear-facing child seat (RWF). A child seat for a three-year-old child was fitted with FWF with a three-point adult seat belt. This was not able to reduce excessive movement during impact. Therefore, the protection provided to the chest was moderate and the head protection was low (as indicated at the time of the accident).
RWF baby seats have been used for an 18-month-old test dummy. A child seat in conjunction with an adult seat belt has provided full protection for the occupant of that child. It is also worth noting that, while Triber allows the installation of a child seat in the back, it does not provide ISOFIX anchorage.
2021 Renault Triber GNCAP test: safety equipment
According to the GNCAP release, the Renault Triber used in this test list came with a basic safety procedure. This means that the tested model has been fitted with two airbags, a reminder belt system and ABS.
On the machine, the Triber tested here comes with a 72hp, 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine aspirated engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox and 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox.
Future plans for GNCAP
Going forward, the Global NCAP testing is set to be challenging as it is set to introduce further test parameters to increase safety standards. From 2022 itself, ESC (electronic stability control) testing will join the organization’s testing processes. In addition, it plans to incorporate active safety technology into its testing process and to introduce a single measure (instead of adult and child safety standards) by 2026.
